Racquet String Tension

Selecting a Tension for a New Tennis RacquetTennis string tension

Every racquet comes with a manufacturer’s recommended tension range. The manufacturer chooses this range based upon the design of the racquet and the typical player that will be using the specific frame. Unless you have specific tension preferences we recommend stringing any new frame in the middle of the recommended range. This will give you a good balance of power vs. control. If you want to gain more control from the racquet try stringing 2-3lbs tighter than midrange. If you want to add more depth to your shots, drop tension 2-3lbs below midrange. Dropping tension will also offer more comfort for those who suffer from any type of arm injury.
