Tennis Racquet String
Tennis Racquet String
Selecting the right tennis racquet string can be as important
as the racquet itself. After all, the strings are supposed to be
the only thing that actually touches the ball. The wrong string
or tension can make the racquet a big disappointment. The vast
majority of strings are made from one (or more) of four different
materials (Natural Gut, Nylon, Kevlar, and Polyester), but the
actual construction of the string also comes in to play.
Some tennis
racquet string is made from just one single piece of string
(monofilament, eg Gosen Polylon), while others are made
from thousands of tiny fibers twisted or woven together to
make one piece of string (multifilament, eg Wilson NXT). In between
these two extremes are solid core with wraps (eg, Prince Syn
Gut), multi core with wraps (eg, Leoina 66), and textured (eg,
Gamma
Ruff).
